The airline is launching 10 new destinations while expanding its premium long-haul strategy. Here’s what travelers can expect.
United Airlines has added 10 new international cities to its route plans for 2027, making it the largest international network expansion in the company’s history.
According to the carrier, it has added 58 international destinations to its route map since 2017. It now flies to more than 160 locations around the world.
“The creative and strategic way we’ve expanded our international network since the pandemic has made all the difference, not only for our customers and employees, but also as a way to differentiate United and build a brand focused on customers,” said Scott Kirby, CEO of United Airlines, in a press release.

Where did United add nonstop flights to in 2027?
On Tuesday, the airline announced that many of the additions will be nonstop flights to cities across the world. This includes:
- Okinawa, Japan
- Toulouse, France
- Luxembourg City, Luxembourg
- Marseille, France
- Ibiza, Spain
- Valencia, Spain
- Terceira, Portugal
- Ljubljana, Slovenia
- Olbia, Italy
- Catania, Italy
Where will the new routes originate from?
United’s new routes will run primarily from its three major hubs, Newark Airport, San Francisco International Airport, and Dulles International Airport.
A push toward luxury
As part of the company’s effort to be known as premium aircraft carrier, many of the new routes will also be flown in United’s newest addition to its fleet: the A321XLR. The plane features lie-flat seats in United Polaris, as well as Economy Plus seats with extra elbow room across an open middle seat.
