The season’s final Grand Slam officially starts on Sunday, but Carlos Alcaraz, Homer Gere, and Andre Agassi are already winning points for style. It’s all aboard the swag train to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, Queens, where the year’s final Grand Slam tourney—and summer’s most stylish sporting event—kicks off this week. The US Open sees the world’s top tennis players face off across the famed blue courts of Arthur Ashe Stadium, but in recent years, it’s also become a prime opportunity for players and celebrities alike to show off their summer fits.
While the main draw officially begins on Sunday, this week’s qualifiers, mixed doubles tournament, and exhibition matches—a.k.a. Fan Week—have already given us plenty to pore over. Thanks to its NYC locale—and all of the attendant fashion and celebrity clout—the US Open has long had a reputation as a showcase for late-summer style both on the court and in the stands. Last year’s event raised the bar significantly, thanks to a bumper crop of sweet tennis merch, a raft of turned-out celebrity attendees, and an unfortunate incident of Who Wore It Better courtesy of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
Just two days into Fan Week, this year’s Open is already off to a promising start, courtesy of Alcaraz’s purple hoops-inspired Nike outfit, along with honorable mentions for Andre Agassi and John McEnroe, who squared off in exhibition matches on Tuesday. On the step-and-repeat, meanwhile, Homer Gere, Kaia Gerber, and NHL legend P.K. Subban set an equally high bar for celebrity style.
