Dubrovnik offers €45,000 housing grants to young families in new support scheme

16 August 2026 — The City of Dubrovnik has increased financial support available to young people and young families seeking to resolve their housing situation, with a new programme offering grants of up to €45,000 per applicant
Under the new “30 x 45” housing measure, the city will provide 30 non-refundable grants, each worth €45,000. The programme is part of Dubrovnik’s wider “Dubrovačka stanogradnja” housing policy, aimed at supporting more affordable housing for younger residents.
The new grant represents an increase of €15,000 compared with the previous “30 x 30” scheme, under which successful applicants received €30,000.
The programme covers two categories: the purchase of a residential property, and the construction, extension or upgrading of a residential property.
Applications opened on 14 August 2026 and will remain open until the allocated funds are exhausted, or no later than 1 December 2026, whichever comes first.
The increase follows changes to the tax treatment of local housing support. Under Croatia’s Affordable Housing Act, financial assistance provided by local and regional authorities through approved affordable housing programmes is no longer subject to taxation.
Previously, Dubrovnik was required to provide funding not only for the grants themselves but also for associated public charges. The city said the removal of that tax obligation has allowed funds previously earmarked for those payments to be redirected into direct support for beneficiaries.
The previous 30 x 30 measure helped 36 young people and young families during 2024 and 2025.
Through its broader “Dubrovačka stanogradnja” programme, Dubrovnik says it has so far supported more than 70 young families through various housing measures.
