New petrol and diesel prices announced

17 August 2026 (Croatia Week) – Fuel prices in Croatia are set to rise again from Tuesday after the government adopted new regulations continuing its system of regulated maximum retail prices for petroleum products
Under the latest measures, the maximum price of petrol will increase by 7 cents to €1.63 per litre, while diesel will rise by 9 cents to €1.80 per litre.
Blue diesel, used primarily in agriculture and fisheries, will also increase by 9 cents, reaching €1.27 per litre.
The maximum price of LPG for large tanks will rise by 4 cents to €1.24 per kilogramme, while LPG sold in bottles will increase by 3 cents to €1.81 per kilogramme.
The government said fuel premiums have been reduced by €0.01 per litre for diesel and €0.02 for blue diesel compared with the previous seven-day period. Excise duties have remained unchanged, with reduced rates continuing to apply.
Compared with the levels before the introduction of the government’s fuel measures, excise duty has been reduced by a total of 9 cents per litre for unleaded petrol and 7 cents for diesel.
The regulated prices are calculated using a formula based on the basic price of fossil fuels during the previous seven-day period, together with capped supplier premiums and applicable excise duties.
The government said that without the measures, and if retail prices were freely determined using pre-crisis excise duties and unrestricted energy-sector premiums, petrol would cost €1.78 per litre and diesel €2.01 per litre.
