A Nantucket Store Faced Backlash Over Its ‘No Influencers’ Sign. Now It’s Selling 600 Copies

Four Winds Craft Guild turned backlash into a new product line. Hundreds of handmade copies of its controversial “No Influencers” sign are now up for sale. Not everyone is pleased.

A Nantucket store that drew backlash for hanging a “No Influencers” sign above its storefront is now selling 600 copies of the décor that made it famous.
In early August, Massachusetts artisan craft and antique store Four Winds Craft Guild hung a gold-plated “No Influencers” sign above its entryway. The sign drew criticism for appearing to put down an industry composed largely of women, including from Dairy Boy founder Paige Paul, who called the message anti-feminist in a comment under the store’s Instagram post.
Mocking women when they become powerful
“Mocking women when they become powerful in a new industry isn’t new,” Paul wrote. “It’s just a strange message coming from a store that celebrates a craft with such a rich history of women shaping the island and its economy.”
Less than a month after the controversy, the store appears to be capitalizing on the attention.
