19 August 2026 –Beijing and Zagreb will be connected by a new air route from 4 September 2026, strengthening transport links between <a href="https://zagreb.today/croatia-no-longer-near-eu-bottom-for-holiday-affordability/” title=”Croatia no longer near EU bottom for holiday affordability”>Croatia and China and opening additional opportunities for tourism, business and cultural exchange, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia confirmed today.
Air China will introduce the new Beijing–Bucharest–Zagreb service, with flights scheduled three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The route was presented in Beijing and is expected to provide an additional connection between China and Croatia, while also improving access to other destinations in Southeast Europe.
The new service comes as Croatia continues to attract a growing number of Chinese visitors. More than 330,000 Chinese tourists visited Croatia in 2025, according to the information presented alongside the new route.
Improved air connectivity is expected to make travel to Croatia more convenient for Chinese visitors, while also supporting business travel and exchanges between the two countries.
The route could also provide opportunities for Croatian companies looking to develop business in the Chinese market. Croatian products with potential for export include cheese, tuna, olive oil and wine, while stronger connections could facilitate further trade and investment contacts.
Beyond tourism and commerce, the new link is also expected to support cooperation in areas including culture and people-to-people exchanges.
The Beijing–Bucharest–Zagreb route will begin operating on 4 September 2026, with three flights per week.
The introduction of the service represents another step in developing direct air connectivity between Croatia and China and strengthening links between Zagreb and the wider Asian market.
