Croatian cheesemakers take part in bid for world’s largest goat cheese platter

ZAGREB, 21 Aug (Hina) – Thirteen <a href="https://zagreb.today/croatian-wines-score-superb-points-in-wine-enthusiast/” title=”Croatian wines score superb points in Wine Enthusiast”>Croatian cheesemakers, bringing 30 varieties of cheese, will join a French project this Sunday to create the world’s largest goat cheese platter and seek an official Guinness World Records certificate.
Two producers from Zagreb County – Sirana i farma koza OPG Grčević from Gradec Pokupski and Sirana i farma koza Bresnica from Jastrebarsko – will take part in the event.
The Croatian delegation will be hosted by French cheesemakers at a special stand called “Croatian Goat Cheese Team”, according to the Croatian Association of Small Cheesemakers (SirCro).
Cheeses from producers in 12 Croatian counties will be included in the record attempt, alongside goat cheeses from France and other countries.
The other Croatian producers taking part are OPG Jagarka and Sirana Modruš from Karlovac County; OPG Mala Roga from Split-Dalmatia County; OPG Koze i Mi from Međimurje County; OPG Moravec from Varaždin County; OPG Vladimir and Ljubica Ljubić from Krapina-Zagorje County; OPG Geto from Osijek-Baranja County; OPG Tatjana Lovrić-Jovanović from Vukovar-Srijem County; OPG Petar Žampera and family and Sirana Gligora d.o.o. from Zadar County; and Sirana Vesna Loborika d.o.o. from Istria County.
The event is being organised in the historic Périgord region, now Dordogne department, by the Caprin Dordogne Périgord association and regional partners. The final event and tasting will be held on Sunday, 23 August in Meyrals, when the public and experts will be given an opportunity to exchange knowledge and showcase the richness and diversity of goat cheeses.
