Dolly Parton, the singer and songwriter often referred to as the “Queen of Country Music”, has died today at age 80. The actress and chart-topper made waves in culture and the business world, leaving behind several enterprises.

Bryan Seaver, Parton’s nephew, revealed the news on social media earlier today. “This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago, before I fully absorbed it as a future reality. As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t truly felt it till now.”

According to the Associated Press, Parton died in Nashville, Tennessee. In recent years, the singer faced persistent health issues that led to a number of hospitalizations.

What was her net worth?

Before her death, Parton’s net worth was estimated to be approximately $450 million Much of this stems from The Dollywood Company, a theme park the singer co-owned in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

What will happen to Dollywood?

Built in 1961, the theme park went through multiple owners until the launch of Dollywood in 1986. Due to Parton’s cultural notoriety, the attraction has remained successful, generating anywhere between $180 million and $580 million in annual revenue. In 2021, Forbesestimated that Parton’s stake in Dollywood was worth about $165 million. Prior to her death, the singer owned 50 percent of it, while Jack and Pete Herschend owned the remaining 50 percent.

When reached for comment, Dollywood said that it planned to issue a statement this afternoon. It was not received by the time of publication.
