Davenport Northwest Little League is one of four teams remaining in the U.S. bracket at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. A win in Davenport’s next game Wednesday, Aug. 26, would send the team to the U.S. championship game.
This year marks Iowa’s 16th appearance in Williamsport and first since 2022, with the state still seeking its first Little League World Series title.

Iowa’s next game is Aug. 26 at 2 p.m. CT against Paseo Verde Little League of Henderson, Nevada. Paseo Verde, representing the Mountain Region, is coming off a 5-0 win over Washington on Aug. 23.

Davenport Northwest Little League is 2-0 in the LLWS, besting Bayonne (New Jersey) 6-0 in its last game on Aug. 23.
Pitcher Anthony Johnson Jr. was the star of the game, striking out 15 hitters and allowing just one hit and a walk in nearly six innings of work. The Quad Cities youngster also went 2-for-2 with four RBIs, including a three-run homer in the sixth inning that sealed the victory for Iowa.

Johnson’s father, Anthony Johnson Sr., serves as an assistant coach with Alan Rasso. The manager for the Davenport team is Mark Erwin.
