‘Not everything is wrong’ – Carrick defiant after disappointing Man Utd loss

Manchester United boss Michael Carrick has insisted that not everything is wrong with his team after losing 2-0 to Hull City.

The Reds were unable to respond after two first half goals from the newly promoted side, and kicked off their Premier League campaign in underwhelming fashion.

“It’s disappointing, of course it is,” reflected Carrick. “We came here to win so to not take anything away is hugely disappointing. It’s not more than that, it’s not less than that.

We accept it. We got beat, we’re hurt

“We accept it. We got beat, we’re hurt and it’s not a nice feeling. It doesn’t mean we’re going to change the whole direction of where we’re going as a team and a football club.

“It’s just one game. Results can happen and we understand that. It’s not nice when they do, but they do happen.”

After replacing Ruben Amorim midway through last season, Carrick successfully guided United to a third place Premier League finish. The Reds will be hoping to build on that this term, as they also make their return to the Champions League.

We haven’t lost many games in six

“We haven’t lost many games in six or seven months,” continued the United boss. “I get it, we’ve lost today and I understand there’s questions to be asked. But it doesn’t mean everything’s wrong because we lost a game.

“We’ve done a lot of good things. And we did some good things today, but it gets lost. I understand it will get lost, but it doesn’t get lost from our point of view.

“Just because we lose one game doesn’t mean everything needs dissecting and is wrong from our point of view.”
