The Best On-Court Style Moments Served at the 2026 U.S. Open

Ready, set…style. The 2026 U.S. Open is in full swing in Queens, New York City, with the season already serveing up some thrilling,—and stylish—moments. Serena Williams made her return with doubles partner Carlos Alcaraz, who was back in it after an injury that struck him out of this year’s Wimbledon. The duo sported some striking matching royal purple and black Nike kits.

Roger Federer played a once-in-a-lifetime exhibition match at the Arthur Ashe Stadium with Lorenzo Musetti—and also launched a limited-edition version of On’s The Roger shoe—before absconding to Rhode Island to be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Across the next few days, we’ll see the likes of women’s world number one Aryna Sabalenka, Naomi Osaka, Coco Gauff, Venus Williams, Taylor Fritz, and more hit the Flushing Meadows hard court.

The Williams sisters were at the forefront of subverting traditional tennis whites. Gauff debuted her latest New Balance x Miu Miu on the London grass, while Sabalenka is a Gucci face, Fritz is a Boss ambassador, and Novak Djokovic reps Lacoste. And then there’s Osaka, who makes sure her walk-on moments are both meaningful and fashion-forward. Her last appearance at Wimbledon saw her wear a custom, kimono-inspired gown designed by Hana Yagi to her first match.

I like to use fashion as a medium

“I like to use fashion as a medium for storytelling,” she told Vogue at the time. Her first and second U.S. Open walk-outs were just as strong, in custom Who Decides War and Thom Browne respectively. Taylor Townsend has been a stand-out style star, looking to designer Anthony Lattimore for majorette-style tennis dresses and performance-proof sequins and fringe. “I look good, I feel good, I play good…on and off the court, I love getting a ’fit off,” Townsend told press.
