We are now down to just two weeks 14 days, until the start of the 2026 Kentucky football season, and excitement continues to build. As we count down the days until their first game, we are getting to know the players on the roster. Today, we are taking a look at No. 14, Ty Bryant.
Bryant is a 6’0″, 196 lb safety out of Lexington, Kentucky. As a recruit in the 2023 class, he was rated three stars by 247Sports, and ranked as the No. 1,220 overall player in their composite rankings.
A highly decorated high school player, Bryant received a number of scholarship offers, including teams like Cincinnati, West Virginia, and the Tennessee Volunteers. However, he chose to stay at home and play for Kentucky.
It didn’t take long for Bryant to prove
It didn’t take long for Bryant to prove he was a star in the making. As a freshman, he played in every game and even started three. He had 40 tackles on the season. In 2024, he got his first interception and another 46 tackles. Then, last season, he broke out, totaling 76 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, and 4 interceptions on his way to being named to the All-SEC team.
Heading into 2026, Bryant will be one of the key players on defense. He’ll be a veteran leader, and should be one of the SEC’s best safeties once again. He has NFL skills, and he will get to show them off this season.
