In a recent interview with Harvard Business Review, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said adults have increasingly turned to Happy Meals as GLP-1 medications make them more mindful of portion sizes.
He added that as adoption of these drugs continues to increase, McDonald’s expects overall calorie intake to decline.

The pressure isn’t unique to McDonald’s.
The entire fast-food business model that has long relied on offering more calories for less money is starting to change to better align with current consumer needs. While millions of adults on GLP-1s still visit fast-food chains, they’re simply opting to order smaller amounts.
