A 13-Year-Old Built a Backyard Wiffle Ball Stadium. Now His Family Owns the 73-Year-Old Brand
What began as backyard games during the pandemic grew into a national league. It just led to an unlikely acquisition.

The Wiffle Ball Inc., the company behind the eponymous sports product, is passing its family-owned brand to new owners.
On Tuesday, the Rose family announced its acquisition of the American company. Before the acquisition, the company was led by David and Stephen Mullany, the sons of the brand’s founder. The new ownership group includes brothers Logan and Carson Rose and their mother, Jordan Rose. Logan will serve as CEO, and Carson will serve as chief growth officer.
“WIFFLE has brought recreation, competition and, best of all, fun to millions of people across the country,” said David Mullany, president of Wiffle, in a press release. “It has been an incredible provided so many with good times and lasting memories. The Rosefamily shares our love of the game and we are excited for them to carry the WIFFLE legacy forward.”
Jordan Rose, founder of Rose Law Group, will serve as chairman of the board. Members of the Mullany family will remain on the board in advisory roles.
Refreshed leadership advice from CEO Stephanie Mehta
“Almost everyone has a Wiffle Ball memory, whether it’s a home run derby in a cul-de-sac, turning your backyard into a field or playing at the beach with friends,” said CEO Logan Rose. “It’s one of America’s great backyard traditions, and for my family, it’s always been part of our lives.”
New owners
The Wiffle ball was invented in 1953 by David Mullany. To help his son with his pitching arm, the retired semiprofessional baseball player created an aerodynamic ball. The product eventually became the foundation of his company.
In 2020, Logan Rose, who was 13 at the time, had his father build him a custom Wiffle Ball stadium in their Arizona backyard. The family later began filming the games and posting highlights on social media, creating Big League Wiffle Ball.
